FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT ARE BACKLINKS?
Q. What are Backlinks?
A. Backlinks (also known as “inbound links”, “incoming links” or “one way links”) are links from one website to a page on another website. Google and other major search engines consider backlinks “votes” for a specific page. Pages with a high number of backlinks tend to have high organic search engine rankings.
Q. When will my video appear on page 1 of Google?
A. That depends on hundreds of factors so it’s really hard to predict the outcome. Rankings and movement will depend on website/video age, domain, competition, keywords you’re trying to rank for, niche, content and about several hundred other factors that are known only to Google engineers. It’s really important you do the first part right and that’s keyword research. If you go after the right keywords, you’ll be able to rank really fast and really high. If you go after the wrong keywords (e.g. really hard/competitive niche such as “car insurance”), this won’t work. But if you go after specific keywords it will (“car insurance in zip code 11218” for example).
So the only way to see if it will work for you is to build some backlinks and wait and see. SEO is basically a game of numbers and mostly trial and error.
Q. How exactly does this process work? What does it do?
A. Our service consists of building links to your URL (be a website, video, something else) from a network of unique websites (Mediawikis, Dokuwikis, Pligg social bookmarking sites, WordPress, etc.). By doing this, your website/video should appear(s) as “more relevant” in the eyes of search engines and ranks higher. That means more traffic and business for you.
Q. How many links will you build? In what time frame?
A. That’s a question that’s hard to answer without a heavy analysis. Rankings, movement and how many links in what time frame to build will depend on website/video age, domain, competition, keywords you’re trying to rank for, niche, content and about several hundred other factors that are known only to Google engineers. If we said build 100 backlinks to your website/video in 7 days, that might be too much for some videos/websites and too little for others. We start with 50 backlinks over 25 days, see how they are doing and add more links.
So the only way to see if it will work for you and your videos/website is to build some backlinks and wait and see. If your video/website is new, drip feed them as much as possible (21 days) and go for a smaller amount of links. This is a process, not an exact science.
Q. Is it safe to build links?
A. There’s no such thing as 100% safe with SEO. Once you start doing SEO, there’s always some risk involved. That being said, risk can and should be minimized by effectively using our drip feed option, providing high quality content and not using too many links, especially if your video/website is new.
Q. How many keywords do you use?
A. We use no more than 5 keywords per site. If you really want to focus, we will use just one. What we often see with our customers is they load way too many keywords (long tails). So they have a campaign with 300 backlinks and load in 100 keywords. That means all link power/juice is split among all of those keywords and in the end they don’t rank for any of those which is a shame.
Q. Why are links not showing in Ahrefs, Semrush, etc.?
A. Simply put, because we block their spiders. We used to allow them to crawl our network, so you still might see some links there, but processing power needed / bandwidth consumed by their spiders was way too large. The only spider we currently still allow is Moz’s DotBot.
Note that this doesn’t influence your rankings whatsoever. We don’t block Google’s, Bing’s or any other search engine spiders and those are the only ones that are really important because they determine your rankings and traffic you receive in the end. Search engine spiders are allowed and will be able to see your links.
